Postfix error

Thanks, hadn't thought of that.

My email provider upgraded me during the night and my webmail became unusable 
so this turned into an emergency. So I seem to have fixed it by removing 
postfix with apt-get, deleting the /etc/postfix/main.cf and master.cf files 
and reinstalling. It seems to be working now.

Alas, I didn't really learn anything from it.
