yep.

I see.

Well, it's a little more than that [1] [2]
[1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nexenta
[2] https://launchpad.net/distros/nexenta
It's like I said, they (Nexenta Systems) take Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Xubuntu running
on SunOS 11 build 48 (as of today, at least for me...) [AKA: the kernel] +
Solaris run-time libraries and tools + the GNU tool chain + whatever Sun
Freeware and packages available in .pkg, .deb and .rpm (using alien to
convert RPMs to .deb's) package formats that you may want to add.
Yes, it's Alpha software but they run their servers with it, develop with
it, use it on their desktops/laptops and have a small but growing user
base.
I currently run it under VMware Server but have used it for extended
periods installed to HD. I find it faster than Ubuntu Breezy and Dapper
when installed to hardware, marginally slower under VMware - but that could
be just me.
Anyway, AFAIK there's a.torrent, a VMware Player image a LiveCD and an
install .iso to play with if you ever feel the need (had to throw that in
there Lonnie ;-) )
Happy Geeking peoples :)
