If i'm understanding you correctly, you're trying to convert 9 separate 
PDF documents into one large PDF document.  You can't do that.  My 
understanding is that you need Adobe's (windows only) PDF tools to edit a 
PDF.  Once a PDF, you can't convert to any other format, other than 
perhaps screen scraping the text.  You need to take your scanned 
documents/images in an editable format and make one large PDF from them 
instead.
