Converting a microwave oven into a broadcast station?

Microwave oven:
   1.  High-power, brute-force, broad-band oscillator (magnetron)
   2.  Short waveguide.
   3.  Resonant cavity (the box you cook in).

Repeater:
1.  Receiving antenna
2.  Collection of sophisticated, software-controlled mixers for 
manipulating the data and transponding (shifting) the frequency of the 
stuff seen at the receiving antenna.
3.  Relatively low-power linear, broadband amplifier.
4.  Coaxial cable to transmitting antenna.


Both *happen* to operate in the neighborhood of 2.4 GHz, but there the 
similarity ends.
