Microwave oven:
1. High-power, brute-force, broad-band oscillator (magnetron)
2. Short waveguide.
3. Resonant cavity (the box you cook in).
Repeater:
1. Receiving antenna
2. Collection of sophisticated, software-controlled mixers for
manipulating the data and transponding (shifting) the frequency of the
stuff seen at the receiving antenna.
3. Relatively low-power linear, broadband amplifier.
4. Coaxial cable to transmitting antenna.
Both *happen* to operate in the neighborhood of 2.4 GHz, but there the
similarity ends.
