That's just it, real BBQ is beef. Ok, maybe chicken too.

The best BBQ joints I knew of did not serve pork of *any* kind. Sliced brisket, chopped brisket (if you must), beef sausage, beef ribs, and chicken were the fare. Along with beans, potato salad and cole slaw, of course.

I lived in the Lake Jackson / Freeport area south of Houston on the Gulf coast. I haven't had a really good plate of BBQ since I moved back to Arkansas. I'm hungry. I'm really, really hungry and it's 3+ hours to lunch. But lunch won't involve any form of Texas BBQ.

I feel a road trip coming.
