Unfortunately, yes in some respects, as I had to learn. I bought me an
ibook G4 12' for christmas and set up a wireless home network. With OSX,
getting the airport (wireless) card to work was just one mouse click,
and setting up WPA security was just another one.
About two months ago, I installed Fedora 5 for PPC alongside OSX, and I
am still fiddling with wireless which is not very stable even unsecured,
and mostly unusable with WPA security.
Of course, you have to be fair, and take into account two points:
a) The Broadcom 43xx wifi chip used by Apple (and a lot of others like
HP, Dell ...) had to be reverse engineered, and the Linux driver is
still under heavy developement.
b) There are serious efforts to make life easier when setting up
wireless, eg. the Gnome Network Manager. But, at present, the unstable
status of wireless connectivity is the most serious issue for me with
respect to using Linux on my ibook.
