Speaking of Slackware

1. I read a few days ago that there was a new release candidate
version of Slack, but I spent some time searching for it on the net,
and the only thing I could find was earlier stable versions. Does
anyone have a url handy?
2. Is there an easy way to put up a 2.6 kernel version of Slack, ie
something later than 20th century technology?
I've got free space on my hard drive again after eliminating some
unwanted candidates, so it would be nice to take a look at Slack again
(old memories die hard).
