The Mailman lists I maintain are all subscriber posting only which (a) cuts
down a lot of spam attempts that get by spamassassin, and (b) generates a
fair number of moderator notices that I or other list maintainer have to
approve or delete.
The spam postings that I've seen recently from the linux-sxs lists have all
come into the linux-sxs mail system from IP addresses that are on various
reliable DNSRBLs, mostly from zombified machines running the Microsoft
Virus, Windows, running in dynamic IP space of broadband providers.
While Linux guys (and gals) often rant about being unable to send outgoing
e-mail from their systems because their ISP is blocking port 25 to anything
but their mail servers, this is a good example of why it's a Good Idea(tm).
