Thank you, I will try your previous suggenstion (adding the trailing &,
to see if I can find the PID.   

At the moment we just type in the script name in a ssh window (I almost
said telnet session), and the script runs (in the foreground).  But
while it is running, we cannot find this process when login into a new
session.
