I don't know enough about [k]ubuntu to know how compatible their debs
are with Debian, but http://www.apt-get.org/ has lists of software
repositories (granted, unofficial and maybe not the best quality, so
care should be taken).  However, I use this source line:

deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org testing main

which provides mplayer, libdvdcss, lots of codecs, and more
(acroread?).  Anyway, I don't run Sid -- too unstable a kid for me.
