We have third party repos on the Fedora side, and they are necessary for
certain apps. As you mentioned, you can get into a world of hurt leaving
them permanently tied into. Using yum we have the command line option:
yum --enablerepo livna install packagename
the livna repo is only tied into when --enablerepo is invoked  followed
by the name of the repo (livna, for example) followed by "install" for
whatever packagename you are going to install from there. FC can be
hosed if you allow too many third party packages of packages that are
available from the "official" fedora mirrors. I know <sheepish grin> Ric
