Samba. Check that out, Samba has caused no end of grief for me in the
past with regards to printing. I finally took my Ex's entire system to
RedHat and dumped it on the table back in tech support and double dog
dared anyone to make the damn printer work.

All the 20 somethings jumped at it. One of the wizards pulled up Emacs
and waved his hands hovery hovery over the box, as we lacked a proper
chicken foot. I've never seen text screens jump around like they did at
the hands of a true Emacs Mage. Impressive, as he flung all the
incantations at it, yet the printer didn't even grunt.

One by one, they threw in the towel. Then it hit me... I rpm -e samba.
System raised hell about such a vital thing being ripped out of it's
guts, but I had no empathy in me, I wanted a damn printer to work. It
was one helluva embarrassment at home to be the resident Linux Guru and
couldn't make Calamity's damn printer print. So I got samba out, re-ran
cups, and Alfred E. Nueman printed right out, in graphics mode. All the
20 somethings had to see just how the old fart managed to do anything
they couldn't. It was just plain dumb luck and I knew it, but I sure
didn't tell! Went home with printer working, and got smiles. That was a
very good day for ole wayward. <smirks> Ric
