OTOH, the minimal burst of paging I reported are too miniscule to
affect my system enjoyment. Nevertheless, on the same machine I never
experience paging with ICEWM running the show.

Methinks I have XFCE4 installed, so when my current download finishes,
I'll give it a whirl. It's not like I really need to run KDE or GNOME.
