Interesting, but not quite. The basic problem is that the notice
generationg/determination occurs outside of the kde desktop. What I'm
looking for is a sort of wall function that will popup a dialog box on
the current kde desktop, so that the user can't miss it, and I would
want this function to be timed, ie once an hour.

Oh, come on now. We have 120+ desktop users, and they certainly have
every right to remain logged in as long as they choose. What a kooky
concept!
