Last week I got this new system ( AMD FX60, RaptorX & 7600GT ). Because
it is for a workstation for Java apps only so I tried different Linux
distros instead of Windows. 

Redhat RHEL 4 failed recognizing the video card so I switched to
Ubuntu. 

The AMD-64 Desltop Ubuntu 6.0.6 works great but then I found out that it
lacks some compat-libstdc++ packages which made the installtion of Sun
Java Creator failed. Then I switched to the 32-bit Ubuntu but then it
did not recognized my dual-core CPU at all. After burning all the CDs
for those distros, I had only one CDR left at home for another distro so
I selected the OpenSuse with the internet installation method. This
almost failed when it asked me for the IP address of the host that has
Suse packahes. After trying several different IPs I googled out, I could
access one of those servers, and it took me around 6 hours for the
installation yesterday.

Now all the java tools and database systems I need are running. The
Desktop is easy to use. I am happy with Suse as my desktop. :)
