Bash Problems in KDE xterm

Hi Guys,

Would there be a reason why the keyboard/Bash mapping problems present
with the first issue of bash 3.1.14 would continue only in an xterm in KDE
and only after using the window for many commands, ie. typing an "l" gets
me a (\i search) prompt and the session becomes basically useless?  

Even closing the particular xterm and opening a new one won't clear the
problem reliably.  Bash in a tty seems unaffected and I have updated to
bash 3.1.17. Its like the keyboard data is getting scrambled or a
something., Its the damnedest thing.
