firefox 1.5, java 1.5 plugins not working

Did you remove the firefox RPM before doing all of this?
What if you install firefox-1.5 under something like /opt ?
FC3 definitely had a /usr/lib/firefox directory, so I'd really wonder what
happened to yours.
