Firefox Freezing

Is it just me or is anyone else suddenly having problems with Firefox freezing 
when trying to load a page. I'm using Firefox v1.0.7 (Debian package 1.0.7-1) 
and it seems to me that this problem just started this week.

The specific symptom is a complete freeze of Firefox while loading a page, 
such that I have to kill the process. If I disable Javascript this does not 
happen but, of course, those parts of the page which rely on Javascript are 
not rendered.

As best I can tell, I have not upgraded recently and I've seen at least one 
report of the same or similar problem with v1.5
