Probably best to use the best Linux-supported card - IIRC the Hauppage and
some of the ATI cards are well supported. Dont know about nVidia ;-)

BTW, MythTV has "video library" features which might be useful here (I
know you mentioned it before but noone seemed to say anything about it).
