Grumble. It doesn't realy matter what the decision point was. Distros
like RHEL and Fedora as leadup to RHEL are geared toward those who
install prepackaged RPMs and not toward the tinkerers of the world who
want to install the latest and greatest source packages, and thus they
see little need for checkinstall Similar situation with Debian
distros where the preponderance of users install deb packages and
perhaps the occasional RPM using alien.
So, get your checkinstall where it is offered and worry less about why
others aren't complaining that it's missing.
