In the old days, one of the popup menus in xterm was a font menu that
allowed you to pick smaller fonts. I can't remember how you bring
the menu up (maybe CTRL click?) but each mouse button brought up a
different menu. Maybe "man xterm" will tell you how to invoke these menus?
