RealPlayer-no sound

I am running Simply Mepis (a Debian based OS) using KDE.  I can not get any 
sound when trying to see videos online.
I used the Debian portal to install it.  Didn't work.  Downloaded the latest 
from the RealPlayer web site, still doesn't work.  I can't seem to find any 
settings for the sound, other than the volume control.
Other programs, i.e. Kaffiene, Amorok, KsCD, etc. do not have any problem.

Any ideas?
