I'd go with a flat-panel LCD, retinopathy notwithstanding. In flat
panels, look for the brightness and contrast ratio. If you have vision
problems, go with not less than 275cd/m^^2 and a contrast ratio not
less than 500:1. I have a friend with macular degeneration and he's
able to see his flat panel just fine. Something like this should do:
