I'll keep your secret <grin>.

I always install Kubuntu because I like the artwork better, but I also
install ubuntu-desktop and xubuntu desktop to cover all the bases. For
the past week or so I've been running XFCE (xubuntu) again and loving
it, in spite of the fact that it's been gnome-icized by Ubuntu.

The only problems with doing this are:

1. Installing ubuntu-desktop forces Firefox to prefer that awful totem
crap (which I can't get to do much) instead of mplayer (which actually
works), so I have to wipeout the totem plugins to get back to a sane
state.

2. The brilliant folks at xubuntu have removed xfrun from the
right-click menu, and it doesn't even appear on the main menu. Sigh,
everyone is supposed to use nothing but gui. I've got it back on the
main menu, but I haven't yet found a way to restore it to the
right-click menu.

PS. Only try this on Feisty or later. The ubuntu stuff on Edgy and
earlier is somewhat brain dead. On Edgy you get a crash dialog each
time xfce starts, with no fix in sight.
