Sad...   but reminds me of my favorite  disaster-recovery story.

A very large corp was moving its mainframe operations from one city to another 
quite far away.  (this was many years ago)

In a good planning move, they decided they had better make two copies of the 
restore tapes and ship them on separate airlines.  They even hired two 
separate courier firms to take the tapes to the airlines and two separate 
couriers at the other end to pick them up.   Total redunancy throughout.

And as the two separate delivery drivers sat at the loading dock waiting for 
the tapes to be ready,  one says to the other  "I'll bet I get to the airport 
before you do!".
