Nvidia and Kubuntu

Primarily for Lonnie:

I'm trying to install Kubuntu  6.10  on my machine with an NV 6200 card.

The install of 9631 works fine under SuSE 10.1 but on 6.10  it can't find 
where to put the libraries and tells me to install the x.org-dev packages.

As far as I know all of that is installed... at least that which is offered to 
me by Adept.

With the default install, even by specifying the card and monitor specifics, 
it would only allow me  1280x1024  resolution on my VS vp201b  when the 
native resolution is  1600x1200.

Got any suggestions for fixing this?
