Can you explain the above?  I don't understand a "brain dead" vim.
And how is unsurprising behavior anything but unsurprising (and good)?

Also, how does intalling vim "fix" vim.

Why do I find your paragraph so difficult to understand?  It was
presented as one of a list of complaints, but sounds almost normal.
Is this like other posts of "it didn't work as I expected it to so
it's bad"?
