How did you get digikam to recognise the camera?

Did you use the 'auto detect' of Digikam?  (which is a really nice program for 
handling pics. My wife uses it extensively)

I would use the   camera -->  add camera  -->  autodetect     and see what 
happens....  but since the E327 isn't in gphoto2's list, then maybe that 
won't work.

Also,  check the settings on the camera....   it may be able to operate as a 
mass storage device if you set it to do that.   But maybe all it has is PTP 
mode.
