Hmm... that's not been my experience, but then I also like Dell
computers and Western Digital hard disks: "east is east and west is
west, and never the twain shall meet".

Anyway, let me just state that my preference for Nvidia is both purely
subjective and frivolous, though I can assure you that a lot of gamers I
know (in Asia) prefer Nvidia to ATI. If you have ever played Warcraft
III on say an Intel Graphics Processor, as compared to an Nvidia card,
you'll see the difference immediately -- you can zoom in on the
characters smoothly, the game action doesn't start to get jerky when you
have hordes of enemy attacking you, and the details and colors are more
beautiful.

Maybe equivalent ATI cards can give you the same performance, but I
haven't tried them, and Nvidia cards have given me a lot of reliability
and performance, so I don't feel the need to try something else.

Of course, I suppose your experience will be different if you play
competitively (which I do not), or if you do 3D image models, etc. For
me, its just Warcraft III. And I play to work off frustrations, so
smooth gameplay and immersive environments are all I need.
