Yes, the 3ware 8006 is HK$200 more expensive than the Promise one. I
also heard that 3ware made better linux drivers.

I have no experience buying rackmount stuffs. So.... :) I think you need
to consult some hi-end shops (not regular end-user computer centers).
You should be able to find them in Sham Shui Po (I noticed 2 hi-end
shops there). Wanchai and Mongkok are mainly for notebook stuffs.
