Golly, you sissies. Way back in the old day, I used to sharpen my needles and keep
the glass syringes in a small pyrex covered bowl. Had to catch 5 drops of urine,
put in in a biddy glass tst tube add 10 drops of water and drop in a blue pill that
heated the whole works and wait ? (can't remember) to see if it was dark blue or some
shade of light green to orange to do a blood urine check. No bG meeter for 11 or 12
years, and those weren't portable. In January of '79 I started 3 or 4 shots a day and
that's when I switched to the disposable needles. The nurse who was my
Diabetes Educator told me to use one 'til it got so dull it wouldn't go
in. Honest! Things hav come a looong way. Use a pump that has the
meter attatched and coupled to the pump with an infra-red port. It
pretty well figgers my doses from what I've programed into it. By the
way two brands of insulins then, (1956) Lilly and hell I forgot, in US
any way. A bottle of Lily NPH was 88 cents.
Bob
