Yeah, a really perceptive review. The guy is pissed that Shuttleworth
has chosen to toss big bucks into the fray, pissed at the brown theme,
and pissed that the level of posts on the forums are not up to his
level of geekness. Lets see: did I leave anything out? Seems to me
that he should have a taste of his own medicine and STFU untill he has
learned to commuicate with grown-ups.
OTOH, those of us who can stand Ubuntu have found it to be a first
class distro. I'm especially impressed by the fact that the forum is
open to rank newbies who are trying to get a grip on Linux rather than
impress each other with their geekness/coolness. The only problem I
have is that the 6.06 release is LTS which practically guarantees that
it will be stable but passe in 6 months just like other "enterprise"
releases. "Enterprise" is great for servers, but it doesn't float my
boat for desktops.
Unless I read your posts wrong, Lonni, you don't have much use for
anything that's not Red Hat anyway, so I'm not surprised that you
can't stand Ubuntu.
To each his own poison.
Personally, I'm waiting for the next release (any minute now) of the
64-bit Sabayon (Gentoo on steroids).
