Well, it's not all roses - we do have our impoverished areas as well.
The essential difference is 200+ years of freedom to be all you can be
with many millions of people driving the economic engine. Let's just
leave it at that. The topic of incredible wealth vs. considerable
poverty (nothing to compare with the third world) leads rapidly to a
flame war or political harangues. Some can only focus on the
incredible benefits for those who work hard. Others can only see the
poverty of those who haven't made it so well.
