SUSE do not deliver MP3 things by default. Licenses and all that. I
think it is the same for RH.
SUSE now have a three part multimedia pack that you can get via YOU. You
must select it in the top left panel when doing the update. It is not
selected by default. I 'think' that is where the missing parts are. It
does NOT contain lame/blade stuff for encoding the files. Just (iirc)
the stuff for decoding them.
I do use k3b on SUSE 9.3 to make CDs from MP3 files. Or, rather, my 12
year old daughter does.
