The older versions of Samba are less than optimal when dealing with
Windows > 98, and I would strongly recommend updating to the current
version (3.0.11 if I remember correctly). The authentication and support
for NT domains has changed radically since the early versions of Windows.
I would also recommend downloading the latest and greatest versions of John
Terpstra's Samba HowTo and Samby by Example from the samba.org web site.
In particular the Samba by Example has many examples based on real-world
installations that John has done.
