ispell (dumb newbie like question)

Are you sure you have the dictionary installed?  What do you get when you do a:

$rpm -qa | grep aspell

On my Mandriva system I get the following:
$ rpm -qa | grep aspell
aspell-en-6.0.0-1mdk
libaspell15-0.60.3-2mdk
aspell-0.60.3-2mdk

Note aspell and aspell-en.  Not a Mepis user so I'm assuming a RPM
based system, but you get the idea.
