Oh gesss .... I remember when.... Ok, how about HoneyWell 2080/DPs440
(440 -> direct descendant of the Multic's Machine). Varion 620L/700,
TI Dx10/DNOS, Burroghs B1800, NEAT3 on a ... ah heck, been soooo long
I forgot the machine manufacturer.
Anyway, point is a lot of what we did "back then", puts us had and neck above
the some of the latest crop of "IT" professional's. You know, the ones that
claim the being a MCSE is the be-all and end-all to data processing.
The fact is, we understand the "processing" dynamics as opposed to the afore
mentioned ones that understand the ONLY the "operational" dynamics.
Kinda like being a Automotive Engineer versus a automotive driver. Just because
you might drive good enough to be a race car driver, does not mean you
really understand all of what and why is happening under the hood.
On another note, FEMA final made it to my house yesterday. The person who came
was an OLD UNIX Guru from back in the mid 70's thru early 80's. Should heard
what he thought of FEMA's MS only IT solution < chuckle > ....
