As I said, the php3 -> php4 disaster was all I needed to drive me away
from php forever. I've never experienced such a painful situation.
In several cases it involved (until it was resolved where php3 and
php4 could be run side by side) running two web servers on the same
box. There may still be php3 code out there that won't run on php4.
It caused me months of problems and upset customers. As I said, screw
me once ...
And maybe it was the packages I used. I don't know or care. If I
wanted that much pain, I'd run M$.

I've seen glibc upgrade problems, but they've never caused me the
grief php3 -> php4 did.

Hopefully, php4 and php5 were made to coexist from the get-go. This
only happened after many long months with php3 and php4. As I said,
way too painful.
