Since about the same time last month, after we had 4 laptops stolen. I had
to bring in my Ubuntu box from home so I could give my Workstation to the
CEO. I've been using Ubuntu on a Windows 2003 Domain.
I have had a few issues but nothing absolutely show stopping.
The release of OpenOffice 2.0 brings almost the same interface and
functionality as M$
I am using Evolution to connect to the Exchange 2003 box. I have had some
problems accessing tasks, contacts & calendar items. It seems to work the
first time you configure the Exchange account but then can't connect on
subsequent restarts of evolution. I'm attempting to fix that by
recompiling evolution, evolution-data-server & evolution-exchange using
the installed compiler so I know it's picked up all the installed versions
of libraries on my machine.
The Gnome desktop is proficient for connecting to windows shares and once
you have unlocked the keyring that stores your passwords it's transparent.
My only issue is that you have to copy files locally to edit them because
the gnome-vfs doesn't always support the particular app in use for editing
on the network. Anyone know how to integrate an application to do that?
