It seems that the crux of the matter is in the middle of the article.
Novell has discovered. as Red Hat did earlier, that you can't make
mega bucks with a desktop distro. Since you can't fleece enough users
a la M$ with mega licensing fees, you need a server distro with mega
bucks service policies. Unfortunately, Novell is not quite as smart as
Red Hat who decided to keep the desktop users around as convenient
guinea pigs with Fedora. I've never been a SuSE fan, but it has lots
of ardent supporters, and I feel their pain.
