Umm, You must have know that I had returned for a lurk. This is still one of
the reasons that I have M$ still as dual boot. So long as you have a capture
card of course that captures in "Analogue" as there is no point in capturing
old VHS in digital format. There is no improvement and the process is LONG
for no improvement. Also again the capture is in "composite" usually via rca
plugs although some are upmarket with the din plug. No there are drivers for
the pinnacle cards in linux and also for a few other analogue cards.
Now there are Digital cards on the market which will capture in an anlogue
mode, the one that I have Nebula Digitv will do so but the software is just
coming to improve the capture with analoge. BUT as usual the software is M$
only and getting the card to work in Linux is again as old difficult.
Although Suse 9.3 see the card on the 64bit setup I have but as yet no "see"
TV, but this might not worry you, mate! After capture I suppose that mpeg
tools might just work so long as they have updated to digital streaming.
Will look into it a bit more for you and give you some sites.
Oh yes! Hi there everyone, I am just that bit older now and still handsome and
white haired <):-)) and the memory is very bitty now down to 60 sec
retrention rate.
