Which nameservers am I using?

A lot of what I'm trying to do is be sure I know how to config these 
things manually without too much automated help. Hence the dumb questions.

Etherconf appears to be in the repository but when I went to install it 
it said...

    The following packages will be REMOVED:
      dhcp3-client ubuntu-base

Which does not look like what I want. (This box is one of my labrat 
boxes and has a late beta install of Hoary and may be somewhat broken.)
