Interesting. I read something that hinted of this, but not so specific.
When I get ny hard disk running again, I will give this a try.

I really like the bit on cp making blocks of zeros sparse when copying
non-sparse files.

Thanks for the tip! I will post a progress report after I again try to
copy my XP image to my laptop.
