changing console fonts?

You have to reboot to switch between VGA nad EGA mode fonts, as those
are specified by the kernel at boot time. You can switch between the 
same category (VGA or EGA) console fonts without rebooting. Framebuffer
fonts are a special category, as it is similar to running X - you might
as well disregard most rules for the console once you enter framebuffer
mode.
