In a perfect world this is true, but a lot of nasty old hardware has so much
trouble dealing with FDx that HDx is actually faster.  This was common in
low-quality 10Mb interfaces, esp of the ISA variety.  Happily, I suppose
"common" no longer really applies to that scenario. :)
