Yes, but that's never been a problem before. As it turns out, I narrowed
the problem down to the NIC in the *other* machine. I connected the
two NICs directly to the DSL modem and got the expected performance,
that is, decent ping time. But, when I connected the *other* machine
directly to the DSL modem, I got the cruddy performance that started this
thread.
So, I'm going to disable the onboard NIC and try a replacement card and
see if that solves the problem.
