<OT> Solaris 10 question

Do any of you using/running Solaris 10 on non-Sparc hardware know if its 
possible to move a single drive installation between different hardware? 
  Each time I've tried I end up with a trashed system where nothing 
works, and I'm lucky if it boots at all.  I'm guessing this is because 
Solaris hardcodes all of the device's PCI IDs so any change renders the 
device broken.  If there's a way around this mess, i'd love to know it.
