We're using LVM on RH, and so far I've been quite happy with it. It's much
more flexible than standard partitions. I haven't hit any gotchas, since
the distro shipped with it and all the support appears to be there. I'd be
more cautious if you were adding it after the fact, but all SuSE's tools
should support it out of the box IIRC.

The docs seem to suggest that you can, but the boxes I've used LVM in all
had hardware RAID, so I can't speak from experience.
