Sharing files between distros

I used a system like this for a long time. I recently switched over to
keeping it in Subversion. Unison tended to fail in strange and annoying
ways. The performance of Subversion, especially over dial-up, is far
better. Plus the ability to "go back in time" was a big draw since a lot
of it is code, script files, and documents where a previous version
sometimes holds some jewel I've lost. I don't keep "settings" in there
so it's not like a true home directory. More like a "Documents" or
"Projects" or "Tools" directory.
