Thanks, Mike. What I just did is to retore the /boot on tape to a separate
folder then, like you said, copy the two files vmlinuz-xxx and its
corresponding initrd-xxx file to /boot then edit /boot/grub/menu.lst to use
these two files. The server is working fine now.
A funny thing : I am in Houston and the server in Columbus,OH. I had a
Windows admin there over phone to help me to install the minimal Linux. When
I asked him to ping somewhere in order to know if the network interface is
working so that I can access it. He told me it found nothing. Finally the
problem was he tried the command "pingsomewhere". :-)
